We Make our Own Apocalypse

There have been many stories about the world coming to an end. Every millennium, the earth is destined to ‘restart’ prune out its inhabitants and choose only the best to survive. For years we have wondered over how the world has been inhabited by prehistoric animals whose bones we see restored on museums while there are still lowly forms of dinosaurs existent today. Another era is the dawn of Noah and the animals he had saved in his Arc, which has allowed us to have a life now.

These ends have long been gone, and not everyone believes in them. Especially those that are bounded by religion are limited to those who believe in the said religion, otherwise it is not applicable. The theory of natural selection is also a manifestation of this selective choice of what is to come.

Years ago, there has been a movie called Apocalypse, which marked the dawn of the new era. Before this era can start, many are supposed to die first. Inconsequently, there are evidences that point out the end of this present era and the beginning of another. Apocalypse 2012 is said to be on its way to destroy and rebuild earth. If earth is to be compared with how it looked years and centuries before, there is doubt that we have depreciated it into a form that is not worth of being called home anymore.

It goes without saying that with what we have done, there is a high likelihood of apocalypse 2012. Everyone is a witness to how the earth is slowly deteriorating, its resources finally being used up and its natural sceneries being converted into dump sites. Predictions or no predictions, we have crafted an end to ourselves.

People fail to realize that we get everything from earth, and with what we are doing now we are proving to be unworthy of the bounty given to us. We may not realize it, but the end that we are so dreading is one that is caused by our ignorance on how earth should be honored. The earth can only withstand too much, and its saturation point may be nearer than what we think. Apocalypse 2012 is coming even without the intervention of other things.
